If you’re a parent with kids of a certain age, you are signing them up for summer activities right about now. While this may sound insane, and it is insane, this is the way of the world.
I am a big fan of planning and planning tools. These don’t have to be fancy, in fact, I often find the more basic they are, the better they work.
Here’s how I plan out my summers:
📅Print out monthly calendars for June, July, and August.
❎Block out each week with trips, visits, camps, etc
This is all separate from my regular planning for work and general life. I find having a dedicated, physical, visual in front of me makes it much easier to keep track of.
Now, actually signing up for those activities is another matter. You have to sign up at a certain date and time or you will miss out and your children will murder you immediately 🔪 or drive you off the wall with boredom 🫣 at that future date. I track those sign-up dates in my normal planning process.
I then live off those printouts all summer so that I can remember what’s happening without having to think about it.
🧶So, if you’re wound a little tightly like I am, maybe you’ll find this helpful.
